Words arrive on their own
Tapped while reading, or taken from what the scoring flagged. The definition, pronunciation and an example are fetched and copied into the card at that moment, so the deck still works on a plane.

Two minutes, not an evening
Only what is actually due is shown. Say the meaning, reveal, and grade it — each of the four buttons tells you the interval it will hand out before you press it, so the choice means something.

Stuck words are flagged, not ground
A word forgotten four times is marked stuck rather than shown forever. That is a signal the card is badly written, not that you need more repetitions of a bad card.
What it will not do
It schedules; it does not teach. A card whose definition you copied without understanding will come back forever and stay meaningless — the tool can tell you that is happening, and cannot fix it for you.
